The new recording "Calahoo" is now available in stores and online!
Calahoo is a collection of 12 new songs recorded on the west coast with mad scientist/ producer Joby Baker (the Bills, Outlaw social, Cowboy junkies) at the helm. The material ranges from atmospheric ballads (Hangin Tree, Shame) to irresistible groove tunes (Calahoo, The Right Wind) all delivered with Cook's own brand of raw folk voodoo. Most of the tracks were captured live off the floor with some great vintage gear.

Joining Kevin in the studio was his touring band: Kory Burns bass, Jay Cundal drums, and Cam Neufeld on harp and mandolin. Old friend and special guest Lester Quitzau adds some tasty guitar textures and Joby Baker also comes up with some fine musical
contributions. There will be a CD release show early in the new year, date TBA.

The Tracks
1. Calahoo

....A few years ago I moved to a cabin in the woods west of Edmonton. One of the best things I ever did.
2. Homestead
....My parents were both born and raised on prairie farms during the great depression. I grew up listening to the stories.
3. Romance of the Road
....I remember reading Kerouac's "On the Road" in my early twenties; it seemed like the only way to go.
4. Nothing's Clear
....A good friend lost his partner of many years. This is a song about the way I thought he must have been feeling.
5. Tall Gordon
....Another tale of woe, written for a guy who was always having "too much fun." The last verse refers to the way blues legend Robert Johnson apparently met his maker.
6. Hangin Tree
....My nod to the spaghetti western.
7. St. Angel
....An instrumental tune we first performed in a mescal bar in Mazunte, Mexico and it sounded pretty good through those crackly speakers.
8. Pure and Simple
....A song I wrote for my kids who are out there flying on their own.
9. A Way with Words
....Sometimes the mouth has a mind of its own.
10. Shame
....Quite a few years ago, while I was living in a small town in northern Alberta a young local girl drowned mysteriously in the river. It was discovered she had been with child and the rumours had been spreading like wildfire.
11. Hungry
....According to Kafka, in Europe, back in the days before TV and the internet, people would gather in the town square to watch the hunger artist in his cage as he wasted away. This practice was eventually banned but we still have plenty of hungry artists.
12. The Right Wind
....I hope your sail is out when the right wind comes around.
