"Calahoo" is in the can!
Kevin and the crew just returned from Baker Studios on the west coast with 12 new tracks recorded and mixed. Working with mad scientist/producer Joby Baker (Cowboy Junkies, Outlaw Social and The Bills) they conjured up some magic moments. Joining Kevin in Victoria were the usual suspects Kory Burns/bass, Jason Cundal/drums and Cam Neufeld on the harmonica and mandolin as well as special guest and old friend Lester Quitzau on guitar. Joby added some great atmospheric touches on organ, Werlitzer and percussion.

The new disc "
Calahoo" will hit the streets this fall so stay tuned folks!

Cook and Neufeld
Mesmerizing ideas flow from the guitar of Kevin Cook like liquid amber. The Alberta-born musician's album "Western Union" puts his own original and confident stamp on a country-blues style that sounds old and new. Cook is an experienced tunesmith with a gift for finding the right words. His live show is energetic and unpredictable. Armed with a vintage 1920's parlor guitar, Kevin travels from coast to coast sharing the stage with some of the best roots artists in the business, like Colin Linden and John Hammond.

Cook tours as a duo with Cam Neufeld on fiddle, mandolin, banjo and harmonica. "If it's got strings he can play it". From Appalachian fiddle tunes and claw hammer banjo to bluesy-gypsy swing, Neufeld is a master of many styles. He also records and performs with his own instrumental group.

This duo has collaborated on a number of projects, including the soundtrack to the TV documentary film " One More Mile." Kindred spirits in their affinity for authentic roots music, "When these guys get together, the sparks fly!"
